Laser Resurfacing: What To Expect
Gee Beauty offers a non-invasive Laser Resurfacing treatment to remove superficial and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck, and chest. Before committing to this treatment it’s important to know how to care for the skin and what to expect during the healing process. Our Medi-Beauty Managers Anna and Jessica are here to outline the process for you!
Laser Resurfacing incorporates laser technology that passes through the skin without removing any layers. Downtime is minimal, ranging from 3-7 days. Depending on your skin type, what areas you are treating, and how many passes are done this downtime will differ between clients.
The treatment itself is very manageable with a topical numbing cream applied prior to treatment to offset any discomfort.
It is important to stay out of the sun following Laser Resurfacing as new skin will be exposed. We recommend avoiding this treatment in the summer months or when you know you will be exposed to a lot of sun.
Immediately following Laser Resurfacing you will experience heat in the skin. This is managed with ice packs that can be used on the skin for 10 minutes at a time every hour to release the heat. For the next 24 hours you do not want to over stimulate the skin so refrain from cleansing the skin or touching.
The Healing Process
Days 1-2
The skin will be very red from the treatment in the 2 days following. You will continue to experience mild heat in the skin, as well as tightness. The day after treatment apply a Vitamin C serum, we recommend SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic followed by SkinCeuticals Epidermal Repair and SPF. Epidermal Repair can be applied throughout the day as the skin absorbs it.
Days 3-4
The skin is now beginning to turn over. You may still experience some tightness in the skin but overall the skin will feel like it’s ready to be exfoliated, which is required to allow hydration to penetrate. We recommend Dr. Barbara Sturm Enzyme Cleanser as a gentle exfoliant to buff off dead skin. Continue to use CE Ferulic, Epidermal Repair, and SPF.
Days 5-6
Now is when you will begin to see fresh, new healthy skin start to come through! You may still have track marks on the skin, which you can continue to use Enzyme Cleanser to exfoliate off.
Day 7
One week post treatment your skin will be plump and look brighter and tighter! The skin will be smoother, scars will look less pronounced, and pigmentation and redness will be decreased. You can now go back to your regular skincare routine.
